IMMIGRATION SERVICE OPENS COVID-19 TESTING CENTER
The Minister for the Interior today commissioned a GIS COVID-19 Testing Centre at the National Headquarters of the Ghana Immigration Service in Accra. The move forms part of measures being put in place by the Service to help curtail a possible third wave of the new Delta variant of the covid-19 virus.
The Centre is expected to conduct a mandatory COVID-19 testing for all foreign nationals applying for Immigration permits at a fee of GHC 150.00. The Testing Center is also opened for the general public who wishes to get tested and know about their status for Covid-19.
IMMIGRATION TO STEP-UP HOTEL INSPECTION DURING EASTER
The Honorable Minister for the Interior, Mr. Ambrose Dery has paid a day working visit to the Counter Terrorism Enactment and Concentration Camp (CTECC)
The Denmark Ambassador, H.E Tom Norring, in the company of the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, paid a day visit to the Document Fraud Expertise Centre (DFEC) at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA). The Centre which was founded by the Danish Government has trained officers of the GIS, Police CID, Passport Office, the Registral General’s Department and personnel of the Birth and Death Registry in document fraud detection. This has drastically brought down the incidence of identity fraud.
Workshop for senior military officers from the Nigerian Armed Forces Command and Staff College comprising officers from Nigeria, South Africa, Togo and Tanzania who were on a study tour to the GIS on 20th May, 2021.
The British Home Secretary, Priti Sushil Patel, has handed over a British Government-funded Task Force Facility to the Ghana Immigration Service to help combat organised immigration crimes and document fraud on 2nd June, 2021. In attendance at the commissioning of the GITF was the British High Commissioner, H.E Ian Walker, the Minister for the Interior, Mr Ambrose Dery, the Chief Director at the Interior Ministry, Mrs Adelaide Annor Kumi, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Kwame Asuah-Takyi and the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Operations, Mr Laud Akwasi Affrifah.
